Black History Month With Alphawriter: Malcolm X ~ A Person’s Deeds

Malcolm X

A person and his Deeds

A powerful Message to begin our journey from the honorable Malcolm X. With Black History Month in full swing I wanted to start with someone humble, positive, and conscious to set the tone of my discussions. I chose to begin with one of the most powerful speakers o the time of the civil rights movements.

When we consider the civil rights movements one of the first names that come to mind is Dr. Martin Luther King. But the forms of speaking and context of topic paled in comparison as to what Malcolm X  uttered at almost every turn. Given less honor in history than his Christian counter-part (Dr. King), Malcolm spoke with piety during this speech about the deeds of a person.

Black History month is about more than being Black or African American. It is about recognizing ourselves and our people, our heritage, our capacity for survival, our resilience under oppression, and our strength in coming out of bondage. As a people who have come from being treated as if we were any less than great. We have come into the year 2012 with a common goal in mind. To continually rise above our oppressed pass into a productive future. Our future needs to begin now as we have been only trying for the last 60 years. Too many of our ancestors have died in our place for us to be continually “Just Trying”. We need to begin doing better today.
